Members welcomed the breadth of training offered to support the enhanced service programme, and the increased budget available to provide programmes to new learners as well as refresher training through repurposing of the leadership budget. We note that where specifications are new to boroughs this training has been prioritised to take place before April which is helpful. There were some additional items of feedback as follows: * Mental health service: we note that this service allows for support of patients receiving depot antipsychotic administration within practices. Practices raised whether there was the opportunity to provide additional training for practice staff where they do not currently provide depot medication. * Insulin initiation (pipeline service): members felt that it was helpful to have one person trained per practice rather than one person trained per PCN, in light of the additional work involved such as follow up. We note that this is for advanced training and other training may be in place for practices who support patients who are insulin-controlled diabetics. * Warfarin initiation: we note that there is no new training planned for warfarin initiation due to low patient numbers. Where this service is not already provided, are we reassured that there are sufficient trained staff to provide? * Spirometry: We are awaiting clarification from NWL ICB regarding the delivery point for diagnostic spirometry- the training hub update states that anyone trained to undertake spirometry must be willing to work in a borough respiratory diagnostic hub. This implies the borough level hublet rather than any diagnostic hubs based in PCNs under the enhanced service programme. Please can the ICB clarify this? Members made suggestions for additional training requirements unrelated to the enhanced services programme, which we will feed back through the training hub group. This included additional training for DOACs, heart failure, CKD and lipid treatment optimisation. We hope that this is helpful.
