Actually it turned out there is a more serious issue[1].  I think it's  
the httpclient library that causes the problem, because when I remove  
the certificate file from the gem, the warnings go away too.  (Maybe  
it's just not loading that code.)

Every other time I've used JRuby it's been really slick, this time  
it's driving me up the wall...

Anyway looks like Ola is already aware of this, so I'll wait and see  
how that ticket is resolved before reporting anything from my code.   
(I can't actually do any work without my workaround in place.)
