Theres 2 reasons why I use twitter - 1) I can see what friends are up to and send silly or not-so-silly messages for them to let them know what I'm up to. 2) Once you find some like-minded people to follow who are twittering about technologies or whatever you are into, its a great way to broadcast and find cool stuff. I follow some .net (ahem) and some rails twitterers, and you just get nuggets of cool info you wouldn't always find yourself. And you also get a warm fuzzy feeling when you broadcast your own nugget :)
