Engine Yard (EY) is a great company to work for in itself (I used to work there) and, if you can prove you can do good work, seems to be a good stepping stone to other US companies* in either programming, support or sysadmin.
EY support alumni are now: Programming at EY Supporting at Github Sysadmining/programming at 37signals Sysadmining/programming at Heroku Other exciting stuff Jim also forgot to mention that you would be working from home (or you could find a co-working space). EY is based in San Francisco and the commute is a bugger. If Jim bothers to attend a NWRUG meetup and you can bear to cast your eyes upon his hideous visage you can quiz him for more information. Adam also works there and will also answer questions. Will. * US companies pay well, tend to treat technical people well and tend to allow home working.
