Hi all,

I'd just like to ask that we all make an extra effort to be as civil and
welcoming as possible on this list.

I know many of you find emails from recruiters annoying, but responding with
snark and aggression creates a negative atmosphere that runs the risk of
putting others off from engaging with the group for fear of being attacked in a
similar manner for saying the wrong thing.

I want this to be a safe and welcoming place that encourages folk to engage and
participate, particularly those might be new to Ruby or the group.

Recruiters are people, just like you, trying to get their job done. Yes
il-considered vague recruiter emails are not particularly helpful for the
majority of us. But we have never actually set any explicit rules with regard
to recruiters engaging with this list. We will correct this very soon (most
likely with a similar system to LRUG that asks that all job-related email
subject lines be prefixed with "[JOBS]") along with a long overdue code of
conduct.

Let's work to keep this mailing list as positive, friendly and welcoming as
possible by adopting a respectful tone and avoiding snark and personal attacks.

Thanks,

Tekin
