I agree with Ben here. The key is to be able to demonstrate that you are more than just a commodity developer for hire. If you can show you have other useful skills, e.g. product/service design, UX, frontend, copywriting, ops, user research, sales, marketing, then you’re going to be in a much stronger position to command higher day rates as the value you bring to the client will be that much greater.
