Hey ruby friends, Really enjoyed attending the last meetup, and it's great that we've 4 awesome speakers. Well done to them. And well done to Ben for compering.
I've been impressed with the organisation of Xp Manchester over the years, and specifically the trello they setup to organise the upcoming talks: https://trello.com/b/GYbp27r0/xpmanchester-sessions Some great initiatives by Tekin lately, and upcoming I've just found out about, but I wonder if it's time we had a bit more community involvement in that. Especially if we can all help promote the events to new attendees, and try and broaden ruby's appeal, and increase the diversity of the attendance. I've setup a NWRUG trello and hope it can form the basis of this can help people put forward what they'd like presentations on, and other ideas for running the community: https://trello.com/b/ifgYxjmy (it should be public, and any trello member can join/edit). I've put a couple of example ideas in, so hopefully it's easy to add more ideas...let me know if it isn't - I've probably missed a permission. There's lot of potential for ruby to continue to grow in coming years, but we might have to be more proactive to encourage companies locally and further away to adopt it over php, .net, java, or even just server side js. Upcoming NWRUG's (which are on the 3rd Thursday): June 16th, July 21st , August 18th, September 15th, October 20th, November 17th Cheers and thanks a bunch to the current organisers, Ben and Tekin, for keeping the meetups going.
