Hello again, We’re very excited to announce that in collaboration with CodeUp Manchester we’ll be running a Rails Girls event this August 12th-13th.
For those that don’t know, Rails Girls is a one and a half day “discovery of web development” workshop that introduces the exciting world of web development through Ruby on Rails. The aim is to make technology (and web development specifically) feel more approachable, inspire attendees to explore further and bring the community closer to them. The workshop is designed for complete novices and takes participants through the basics of HTML, CSS, JQuery and Ruby on Rails, building and deploying a web application as they go. The whole thing is not for profit and is also free to attend. What we need from you, the local Ruby community, is help to run the event. Specifically we are looking for volunteers and coaches to help out on the day. To be a coach you don’t need to be a hardcore expert on Ruby or Rails - basic knowledge and a willingness to explain is the key. We are looking for people who like answering questions and can keep an upbeat and positive atmosphere throughout the day. This may be your first time teaching, but don’t worry, there will be more experienced coaches on hand to help you throughout the day. We’ll also run a short session for coaches ahead of the event to go through the curriculum and make sure everyone is ready for the day. More details about the event are over on the Rails Girls website: http://railsgirls.com/manchester If you would like to be a coach or have any questions, drop me an email - [email protected] Tekin PS. We’ll also be hawking for very sponsorship soon. If you or your company would like to help finance the event, give me a shout. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "North West Ruby User Group (NWRUG)" group.
