Been (largely) lurking in here for a few years now, but have met some of you at
a meetup and at various UK Ruby confs in the past.
I'm the lead dev for a web application called CPOMS (www.cpoms.co.uk). We're
market leaders in safeguarding and welfare software, primarily for schools and
colleges. In the last 5 years we've gone from zero to more than six-thousand
customers across the UK and abroad. We're based in Skipton, North Yorkshire.
(Not sure how many members are from over this side of the border or near by? :)
We use Ruby on Rails, primarily. We're looking for all kinds of skills to grow
our team (all permanent):
- Developers; graduate to senior (ruby exp. not required) — £20-45k
Developing on our primary applications, in Ruby on Rails, and lots of
upcoming greenfield projects to be involved with.
- Support technicians; entry-level IT enthusiasts to team managers — £18-40k
A pretty new and fledgling team of 2nd-line software support technicians
with duties including managing and maintaining our integrations with other
software, solving end-user technical issues remotely, and tracking down bugs.
Opportunity for more experienced folks to manage the existing team and have a
big impact right away.
- Systems engineers; mid-level to senior — £25-45k
This is an area where we have the biggest gap at the moment, so there's a
real opportunity for someone with prior dev-ops/sys engineering experience to
tackle the most exciting and challenging of problems for web applications,
including high availability, provisioning, scaling and security. Our stack
involves Ubuntu, nginx, Redis, MariaDB, and more..
We're a small but efficient team of hard-working individuals. Our technical
team currently comprises of nine persons, six developers and three support
technicians, but we hope to be around fifteen in the next eight months.
