I am having an odd issue installing the Ubuntu package. I am using Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS and have had the same issue with both nxlog-ce_2.6.1131_amd64.ubuntu.deb and nxlog-ce_2.5.1089_amd64.ubuntu.deb packages.
I have downloaded it and, as root: # dpkg -i nxlog-ce_2.6.1131_amd64.ubuntu.deb Selecting previously unselected package nxlog-ce. (Reading database ... 44608 files and directories currently installed.) Unpacking nxlog-ce (from nxlog-ce_2.6.1131_amd64.ubuntu.deb) ... Setting up nxlog-ce (2.6.1131) ... Configuration file `/etc/nxlog/nxlog.conf' ==> File on system created by you or by a script. ==> File also in package provided by package maintainer. What would you like to do about it ? Your options are: Y or I : install the package maintainer's version N or O : keep your currently-installed version D : show the differences between the versions Z : start a shell to examine the situation The default action is to keep your current version. *** nxlog.conf (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? Y Installing new version of config file /etc/nxlog/nxlog.conf ... * Starting nxlog daemon... ...done. However, the prompt never returns (have left it at that point for 3+ hours). If I hit CTRL-C: ^Cdpkg: error processing nxlog-ce (--install): subprocess installed post-installation script was interrupted Processing triggers for ureadahead ... Errors were encountered while processing: nxlog-ce At this point, it is not correctly installed: # dpkg -l|grep nxlog iF nxlog-ce 2.6.1131 Modular, multi-threaded, high-performance log management solution A work-around is that when it gets to the point of hanging, I open another terminal window and execute "/etc/init.d/nxlog stop", at which point it properly completes installation. However, I am working on automating the installation via Puppet and the workaround is not acceptable. Has anyone encountered this issue and has it been resolved?
