I've been lurking for a while and love the list. I'm now faced with an
interesting decision, after 4 years of living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn,
they are now offering DSL on my phone line. They used to claim it was
copper>fiber>copper, but now they are pleased to offer it. My question
is cable modems come to the hood in about a month (TWC) and DSL is
available now. Which way should I go? I don't have cable service
(DirecTV) so a cable modem will be about $70 a month and DSL around $50.
Advantages, disadvantages? I like the idea of DSL because I can pick
the provider, but don't know who to choose. I've been reading
dslreports.com, but would like some real world feedback. Once I decide,
I'll be providing a node that will be easily accessible in a popular
microbrew bar in the neighborhood.
