These are two separate projects. The Perl script is to meet a short-term need for usage stats for our clients (# users per day, etc). The project I asked Bon to help on was a much longer-term effort to understand detailed usage patterns.
As far as how we treat our volunteers - NYCwireless projects proceed more slowly because people (including myself) need to squeeze them in between other things like work and social life. This is not the most important thing we are currently working on.
