This is a pretty complicated topic.

I would recommend reading this paper:

Some sidenote comments -

I've been at computer expo hall where I could see twenty seven 802.11b access
points from one place, and I was still able to use the wireless networks fine.

Some cordless 2.4ghz phones interfere with 802.11b at close range, other don't.
Some you will notice a decrease in the throughput, and one phone has been known
to knock off 802.11b clients (though this phone is probably not in FCC
compliance). Some will notice no throughput decrease, but if you hold your
phone close to the wireless card you can hear the 802.11b signal interference.
