Quick question to Dustin (or others) - I should imagine in this case that
the AP is just a dumb wireless bridge, and that all the intelligence work is
taking place on a linux box... A dumb question I'm sure, but I want to be
sure as I'd like to have a trail of my AP (when I finally open it up) but do
not have a spare computer.
Wishing you a good meeting from sunny-but-cold Paris...

Subject: [nycwireless] NYCwireless Monthly Meeting Info (Sept. 25th @
7:15pm)
Hello Everyone,
Just a reminder this Wednesday is NYCwireless' September General
Monthly Meeting. Hope to see you there. As always, there will be 802.11b
wireless, and possibly 802.11a too. This meeting is open to the general
public.
<snip>
- 8pm - 8:45pm - Watching your AP by Dustin. More details below...
The presentation will be on using tools found in linux like nocat,
tcpdump, AP syslogs to track AP usage and how to safely archive this
information to provide accurate picture of what happened via your node
over time. I am doing this for my node because I want an auditable trail
of information that can be used in the event someone uses my node for
unfriendly or unlawful activities. I will be addressing to collect, how
to store safely and for how long. Also which tools and how I have set
them up.
