A friend of mine who lives upstate owns to houses (adjacent lots) and want to be able to have his high speed internet in his second house (which is his studio).
The houses are about 500 feet apart (line of site, including ~ 150 foot elevation) with a fair amount of greenery between them. When I placed an Apple Airport in a window on the main house I was able to a (rather flaky) signal outside the studio.
My friend would like to setup a wireless bridge. Running copper would be way to much of a project. Any suggestions on how to go about doing this?
After doing a fair amount of research it seems 2 Linksys WAP11 boxes with external antennas would do the trick (would they?). Life would be really great if the antenna in the studio could live in the attic (and send/recieve through the roof), although external mounting could be done. There is a nice place in the main house behind some open wooded air vents where the antenna could live.
I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions or pointers.
James.
