Hey everybody. I've found it trivial making more current kodels of Mac Laptops/Desktops go wireless with Airport cards and any wireless hub. But someone wants to make an old 250 mHz G3 powerbook do wireless.

We've inserted an Orinoco Gold card and installed the software from the Orinoco website. The control panel says it's connected to the Airport base station and getting a decent signal. But it won't grab any IP. For comparison, a Titanium Powerbook with an Apple Airport card works fine off of the same Airport. PC laptops with Orinoco cards have in the past worked fine of off this same base station too.

I've only used a third party card and software on an old Powerbook once before and remember it working without problem, but this one's being very stubborn. I've updated the OS from 9.1 to 9.2.1 and tried shifting the order of the Orinoco extensions so that they load first instead of in alphabetical order, but no dice.

Anybody using such a set up and have a suggestion? The tech support was less than knowledgable.
