You aren't going to find N connectors, RP-TNC, and Orinoco connectors in a Radio Shack. I don't know of any place in NYC that stocks it. There are a bunch of places to buy online. Electrocomm usually has good prices and quality products.

There really isn't any reason to roll your own pigtails as the prices are now pretty competitive, and you probably aren't going todo anywhere near as good of a job in your basement.

Crimping N, RP-TNC, and the larger connectors is pretty easy though, and you get the cable at the exact length you need it.

Subject: [nycwireless] A good shop in NYC to pick up connectors

Can any one suggest a good shop in the NYC metro area for picking up
supplies like N connectors, low loss coax, and other such odds-and-ends
that
are needed for setting up? I wouldn't mind rolling my own pigtails if I
had
a good supply of N, BNC, and Orinoco connectors of WiFi quality.
