Hello, I am considering doing POE. However, I make my own cables. After doing a little research, I noticed that I might be making the cables incorrectly. Be that as it may, I generally do it like this.
Line up the wires, alternating stripped and solid wires, but always keeping similar colors together. If I need a straight thru cable, I make it straight through, and if I need a cross over, I just reverse the order of the wires in plug 2 from the wires in plug one. I am worried that putting power through one of the reversed plugs might cause a problem in the way I make cables. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. One last thing, and sorry for the "basicness" of the question, but the numbering of the wires, how does that end up on the plugs. Does it go from right to left, with the tab up or down??
