[nycwireless] Which Antenna

A friend of mine wants to connect a node he lives near.  When standing 
near a window(with a laptop), which is about 30 feet from his desktop 
computer, I can get a connection from a hotspot that is about 2 blocks 
away.  The signal is very weak next to the window and goes away by the 
time I move to his computer.  From the antennas listed here ( 
http://www.wifidirect.com/products/antennas.html ) or somewhere else, 
what do you all think would be a good solution for him? 

He is looking to extend the connection to a G5 that can have an internal 
card or USB, I suppose. 

What I want to know is:
Which antenna to buy?
Which wireless card (Airport Extreme or USB external)?
Do I need a wire to go from the antenna to the machine, if so how is 
that connected?
