I'm looking at doing something very similar. Got a RG-1000 in my 2nd floor
apartment, and I would like to share the connection with a neighbour
(ground/1st floor, across a small yard). When checking out the site with my
laptop equipped with an Orinoco silver, I saw that the signal cut out about
5-10 metres from his computer (a new iMac).

Just had a quick google into that, so far I've seen a couple of devices from
3Com (215 USD) and of course the Linksys WET11 (at a more affordable 105
euros or so; also just seen the WET54G at 130 euros). What's the radio like
in the Linksys? Would I most likely need to add an antenna for it to be
able to associate with the PC?

I've got a second RG-1000 idling about - can I get this to act as wireless
ethernet bridge? IIRC from the list, that can be done with Karlnet. I've
looked at the Karlnet site, but it's a bit too confusing for me, so can
anyone remind me of what they opted for?

Cheers,

Chris
