I was looking around for how much it costs to have smartcard/biometric logon to my laptop. I think the reader itself costs about $100 itself. The one fundamental issue that I have with this "setup" is what happens if you are not happy/have problems with a certain WiFi provider. If you are paying them directly (as it is right now), then you talk to the provider, but if billing is handled through this consortium, I wonder how seriously they will take complaints with their individual providers.
