Hi,

I have a Aries 3054 miniPCI b/g (from netgate.com). I have put it in a
Soekris Net 4521 running pebble linux v37, which has the madwifi driver
built-in.

So far I made it to here :

pebble:~# iwconfig ath0 mode master essid "jodebaer" channel 10

pebble:~# iwpriv ath0 mode 2 // to force it to 11b
<mapping sub-ioctl mode to cmd 0x8BE0-2>

pebble:~# iwconfig ath0
ath0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"jodebaer"
Mode:Master Frequency:2.457GHz Access Point: 00:02:6F:20:4B:88
Bit Rate:0kb/s Tx-Power:off Sensitivity=0/3
Retry:off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

pebble:~# ifconfig ath0
ath0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:02:6F:20:4B:88
inet addr:192.168.1.254 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

... the Soekris has to serve as an access point for 2 WPC11-carded laptops.

Now if I configure the WPC11 on a 'client' like below, shouldn't it see
the AP? Can anyone confirm that my atheros is correctly configured?
Because the laptops see nothing.

laptop:~# iwconfig eth1

eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"jodebaer" Nickname:"localhost.localdomain"
Mode:Managed Access Point: 44:44:44:44:44:44 Bit Rate:2Mb/s
Tx-Power=15 dBm Sensitivity:1/3
Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:0/92 Signal level:-68 dBm Noise level:-122 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

Thanks for any pointers ;-) ideally setting up a quick ad-hoc would be an
easy way to test connectivity, but I guess this is not yet possible with
madwifi?

Jo
