We have 204 unit condo association here in Chicago and we are thinking about starting our own wireless/wired network for our residents only. I have been researching diferent options for past 2 months. One problem we always hit is budget. We will need at least 6-7 access points with sector antennas on them, but we might need more, since our two buildings are facing each other, so the outside walls of our property can't be easily covered. Anyway, I was looking at possibility of doing Mesh network. Anyone done this before? Can I really hold about 50 users on it? We will have a burstable 2Meg pipe, so bandwidth should be OK, my only concern is how stable 6-7 Mesh APs would be and what real bandwidth I can squeeze out of the system.
I would love to get any info. If you know a good vendor YOU have used, I would like to hear some feedback on that too. We do have ability to wire the units (since we already have CAT3 running to them, BUT it will take too long to get all units done, and too expensive).
