The iPod looks to a PC or a Mac as an external hard drive either via USB or FireWire.Iit would be easy to play the music back thru the PC. There are also programs in the XP and OSX realm that would steer the iPod and play the music out thru the iPod headphone jack. Finally the rectangular connector on the new gen iPods allows audio thru but I have yet to see one do that and charge the iPod ala the BMW method. The BMW method also allows for an external interface to change your song. I was hoping for a WiFi iPod to emerge but Apple is too busy milking the money selling music and purifying their iPods back to the almighty Wheel. BTW, I own a Ebayed 10Gig iPod with the four buttons and also have a 40 hour external battery pack from Batterytech (not Belkin). I dislike recharging and I now only do recharing 1x weekly vs daily with the internal battery.
