Greetings. Has anyone done an ISP switch between two covad partner
ISPs?
I have 2 lines in different locations, and I am considering
consolidating, but one ISP says the paperwork has to go to Covad
first, and one says it has to go to the new ISP first.
I did this from megapath to speakeasy a year or so ago.
Speakeasy gave me a Covad form that I had to get Megapath to fill out
(with the circuit #) and sign and fax back to Speakeasy, who then,
presumably showed it to Covad.
I started Monday and it took megapath a few days (and a phone call or
two) to get it to the right desk but they finally processed it and faxed
it back to speakeasy on Friday... (can you see what's coming here?)
And then, despite the many assurances that my outage time would be
limited to a few hours, I was offline for the entire long weekend that
followed. I never really found at why, but Speakeasy blamed it on
Covad/Megapath, Megapath said "well you're not our customer anymore" and
of course I don't get to talk to Covad :-).
I suspect that if Megapath had faxed the form on any weekday other than
Friday it would have gone through without much downtime at all. It was
just unfortunate timing.
Hope this helps... michael
