Re: repeater or 2nd AP

The AP1 should be on channel 1,6 or 11. And the AP2 should be 1,6 or 11 but not 
the same as the AP2 (examples AP1=CH11, AP2=CH6. Don't depend on the APs built 
"use least congested channel" capabilitity it's almost always crap.  Configure 
both APs to have the same SSID, but change it from the factory default SSID. 
That way you can set your clients wireless client to only connect there 
internal wireless network and not a neighboring office.  You are correct in 
assuming there is no benefit to using repeater mode if you already have a wired 
connection for AP2. Depending on which client adapter you using you will get 
different roaming performance between the 2 APs. Sometimes mobile clients will 
probably get stuck on AP1 even when the signal is better from AP2. Some client 
adapters have hidden registry keys to make roaming work better. Some drivers 
are just broken.
