Meetro is a new location based community software being launched in
NYC. Using wifi signals its able to find out the general location of
a user using what can be non technically described as an alternative
form of gps technology. City residents are then visually shown who's
in their vicinity and the general interests they share.
This project has been designed to take advantage of community
wireless projects and the ubiquitous coverage they offer. A desktop
version has been recently released so people without wifi can also
contribute. The software itself is a free download from http://
