"Where are the other candidates on [universal wireless
Internet service for all New Yorkers]? Stormin' Norman
Siegel, what you got to say on this issue?"
                                --Rob Kelley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Thanks for posting that, Rob. It got me to thinking.

To oversimplify: My interest in wifi is intense and
admittedly self-serving, so Rasiej's campaign intrigues
me for personal as well as societal reasons. I've been
a bit torn between supporting him or Norman Siegel.
As both a First Amendment absolutist and someone who
observed with dropped jaw systematic police suppression
of peaceful political protest in this city first-hand,
day after day, during the Republican convention a year
ago, I believe Siegel walks on water.

Rasiej's promises enthrall me, but in the what-have-you-
done-for-me-lately department? Today, a year ago, and
reaching back any number of years, I can and could have
told you exactly what Siegel's done. It's been concrete.
Where's Rasiej been all my life?

Given the likelihood of Bloomburg's reelection, thus
the continued dominance of Ray Kelly's NYPD, NYC's
never been in more need of a highly visible soapbox
and spokesman for the Bill of Rights.

So, after reading your at-first troubling taunt,
I'm inclined to vote for Siegel and hope he'll give
Bloomburg fits, not least by appointing Rasiej to
a post consistent with his interests, however
narrow they apparently are, since they match mine. --adpFisher
