Hi All,

A banded American Flamingo was seen along the Rhode Island shore, at
Quonochontaug, on 6 August. Bob Bushnell and others reported a band on the left
leg of the free-flying bird.

American Flamingos have been suspected as genuine vagrants to the Northeast in
the past, but I don't know what proportion of wild birds are banded.

Yeah, yeah, but there it wasphotographed at CrotonPoint Park last week. (It was
reported to have a leg band)

So be on the lookout if you want to add a species to yourquestionable state or
county list. Hey it will look good on your eBird list(but only to you).

The next question is: How long can a large pink bird escapethe eyes of the rest
of the active birders in SE New York? This is not like aLittle Stint or
Timberline Sparrow you know!

Makes you wonder what else is out there!
