At 4PM amongst a flock of about 45-50 Common Goldeneye I spotted a
drake Barrow's Goldeneye in Jamaica Bay west of West Pond in the
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens. Last year there was a
Barrow's in the exact same location, perhaps the same one, with a
Common Goldeneye flock. Last year they seem to roost in West Pond
which has a large open area now. I was unable to hang around to see
as there was a Thick-billed Murre off Coney Island commanding my
attention (got him.)
