Yesterday I visited the West End of Jones Beach between 6:30 and 7.  I saw a
good number of black skimmers on the sand bar near the coast guard station
and a few merlins flying around.  The highlight was a buff-breasted
sandpiper in the median of the exit at the ocean parking lot.

After leaving Jones Beach due to the high number of mosquitoes I went to the
South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo) and observed a dozen blue-winged
teal, a single solitary sandpiper, a male american kestrel, a hawk
(presumably cooper's) being chased by jays and several eastern phoebes.  The
Western Kingbird which had been reported on saturday could not be found.
