There was a good morning flight at Robert Moses State Park today, highlighted
by flyby American Pipits (30), Pine Siskin (275), American Goldfinch (600), and
Red-winged Blackbird (1200). On the ground there were good numbers of Dark-eyed
Junco and White-throated Sparrow. Highlights included a late Blackpoll Warbler
feeding on the lawn with Yellow-rumped Warblers at Field 3. At Zach's Bay the
previously reported Lark Sparrow had relocated to the entrance to the small
parking lot west of JBSP Field 6 where he was being observed by a group of
upstate of birders who had come down for the weekend to see the Common
Ground-Dove.. An additional Blackpoll Warbler was feeding jn the pines to the
southwest of the small parking lot.

In the afternoon I went north to Sunken Meadow State Park to run (perhaps
inspired by the NYC Marathon) and observed over 400 Canada Geese in the playing
fields east of the entrance road. Among the Canada's was my FOS Cackling Goose.
