I spent a quiet morning at Jones Beach birding around the Coast Guard
Station and the median to West End. The Marbled Godwit continues as well as
a couple of Royal Terns seen on and around the bar near the Coast Guard
Station.

Other notables included 3 Harlequin Ducks, 1 White-winged scoter, 1 Surf
Scoter and 1 Long-tailed Duck all in the same area. A search of the median
with other birders (Sam Janazzo and Sy Schiff) did *not* turn up any
sightings of Crossbills, though we did have decent numbers of Pine Siskins
and American Goldfinches. A surprise showing was a Ring Necked Pheasant
that was flushed as we worked the median.

Good and responsible birding!
