After our Jan. 14th pelagic out of Freeport was weathered out, I asked the
captain if we could tentatively re-schedule the trip for Jan. 28 and he
said yes. With those people from the cancelled trip who have already said
"yes", we need about another dozen or so to make the trip sail.

We did get out on Sunday from Belmar and covered similar waters (but in NJ
rather than the NY waters we stay in from Freeport)out to just 11-12
miles. Highlights of the trip include 40 Dovekies, 5 Common Murres, 55
Razorbills, several Kittiwakes, an Iceland Gull, a Lesser Black-backed
Gull, and a couple of Fin Whales. All alcid counts were probably on the
low side due to breezy conditions. Full trip results can be found at:

Because of the weather patterns this year, we've decided to add a mandatory
weather date. Here's how it will work. If the weather looks decent, we'll
sail on the 28th. If we have to cancel that date, we'll sail on the 29th.
Anybody who can't make the 29th will not be entitled to a refund, but as
long as we have enough people aboard to cover our costs we would issue
refunds or partial refunds to those who tell us UP FRONT that they can't do
the weather date.

Here are the trip details:

   - Date: Sat, Jan 28 (weather date Sun, Jan 29)
   - Departs: 8:00 AM
   - Returns: approximately 4:00 PM
   - Cost: $130 (includes tip for the mates)
   - Boat: Captain Lou VII or Starstream VIII
   - Location: Freeport, Long Island, NY
