Greetings all, Today, on my first visit to these two locations I saw: Ferd's Bog: 1 Black-backed Woodpecker 2 Gray Jay 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets
heard only: - White-winged Crossbill - Evening Grosbeak (I spent time on trying to find and photograph it, but was not successful. It could have been my first...) - Common Raven and there were of course also many Black-capped Chickadees and Pine Siskins. The Black-backed Woodpecker and one of the Gray Jays were very cooperative and even posed in the same tree for a while: http://www.flickr.com/photos/landp/ Along the Shallow Lake Trail: 1 White-winged Crossbill (out in the open in a dead pine right by the three log bridge - great views) 1 Ruffed Grouse (flushed next to the trail about 1/4 mile from the Lake) On the Lower Pond there was one male Ring-billed Duck. While driving in I saw one Pileated Woodpecker flying over Unca's Road and two Ruffed Grouse crossed the road in front of me. All in all a beautiful, especially for me - a city dweller visiting the North for a few days.
