I searched around many areas of the landfill this evening (6:00pm) but could not relocate the upland sandpiper found this morning. From the top of the landfill, I did see off in the distance a sandpiper-like bird lazily flying away from the landfill and eventually making it to the woodlands on the side of the road where it landed in a tree. I was unsure if Upland Sandpipers perched in trees of if the bird was a sandpiper because it was flying strangely but I went to go check it out anyway, but the bird had disappeared. A consolation prize was a Virginia Rail calling from the marsh on the side of the landfill. also seen were barn swallows, tree swallows, a Merlin, a harrier, and a kestrel. --
