Did some follow-up to the South Nassau CBC this morning. Immediately upon entering the median at Jones Beach West End, I lucked into an immature Northern Goshawk sitting low in a pine tree. I got to watch it for 15-20 minutes before it flew. There were also 7 Red Crossbills hanging around, and a flyover Common Redpoll. I then went to Tobay and saw a light-phase Rough-legged Hawk that was found yesterday. It was hover-flying about the marsh on the west side of the parking lot.
