On Thursday, after spending the night at my daughter's in Rockville Centre, on
the way home I tried for both crossbills at both Jones Beach and Hecksher State
Parks, without success. I did, however observe 2 notable birds. The first, a
Canada Goose, had a neck collar (Y7M3) which I thought to be uniquely colored.
It had an orange back-round, with yellow and white letters/numbers. What I had
never seen before was the "Y" painted yellow, while the "7M3" all done in
white. There was also a silver metal band on it's left leg, between the foot &
knee. I'll be submitting this information and will post the results. In the
in-trim, if anyone has any knowledge of this "combination", I would appreciate
hearing from you.
The 2nd sighting was of an adult Peregrine Falcon roosting on the J.B. Tower.
Cheers,Bob
