At 8:50 AM, while glassing the flooded portion of a farm field along the north side of Parker Rd., a flock of 33 COMMON REDPOLLS flew by and perched along a nearby hedgerow. I viewed the flock for about 5 minutes and eventually had to get on my way. They remained in the hedgerow when I left around 9:00 AM.
The birds were perched along the west side of the large farm field that is just east of East Wind Drive in Wading River. I managed a few distant digiscope images that show a portion of the flock. http://www.flickr.com/photos/39025168@N07/ Best, Derek Rogers Sayville -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
