Hi Everyone, I was at the Jones Beach Coast Guard area around 10:30 - 11:00 this morning. In the marina area, saw Long Tailed Ducks, Red Breasted Mergansers, Common Loons, and a Horned Grebe. At Point Lookout the surf was rough, but still saw a decent amount: saw a single Harlequin Duck and a Bonny gull fly by, common eider, long tailed ducks, common loons and lots of horned Grebe. Purple Sandpipers were on the second western-most jetty.
At Tackapausha Preserve - saw a sharp-shinned hawk At Massapequa Lake on Merrick Road, there was an abundant amount of waterfowl: hooded mergansers, ruddy ducks, coots, northern shovelers, mallards and black ducks. The Lesser Scaup are back in good numbers - single one on the west side - most are due north of the "island".
