Hi all,
At 2:00 pm as Rich Fried, Brian Padden and I were heading back to the city,
we happened upon a Rough-legged Hawk flying near the road. It was hovering
and soaring over a field. We didn't get to see it for an extended time as
we could only make a quick pullover.

Other highlights of the morning were a flock of 18 Purple Sandpipers on the
jetty at Jones Beach West End, and a pair of Harlequin Ducks at Point
Lookout.

good birding,
