Marine Nature Study Area, Oceanside 29 August With the approaching high tide, the Avocet along with most of the birds in the pool west of the pond flew off. (High tide is 40 minutes past Jones Inlet). After a review with Mike Farina, staff Biologist, it appears that sightings in prior years were from 2 days to a month in one case. So, fair chance the Avocet will show tomorrow morning.
Other birds of interest were a Cooper's Hawk, imm. Little Blue Heron and a SEASIDE SPARROW.
