  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
  Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological
  Society. To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Press
  the pound key to report sightings before the end of this
  report.

  The highlight of reports received September 18 through
  September 25 from the Niagara Frontier Region, came from
  Lake Ontario. September 23, a first year FRANKLIN'S GULL
  over the lake off the Town of Wilson. Also viewed from
  Wilson - several distant JAEGERS, plus small numbers
  of GREATER SCAUP, WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, SCOTER SPECIES, RED-
  BR. MERGANSER, COMMON LOON, HORNED GREBE and RED-NECKED
  GREBE and BONAPARTE'S GULL.

  September 20, in the Oak Orchard Wildlife Management Area,
  141 GREAT EGRETS arriving to evening roost around Windmill
  Marsh, viewed from the Albion Road tower. Shorebirds still
  in the Oak Orchard marshes - SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, KILLDEER,
  LESSER YELLOWLEGS and PECTORAL SANDPIPER.

  Change of season noted in a Town of Boston yard report -
  apparent departure of RUBY-T. HUMMINGBIRD on September 20,
  and on the 23rd, a stopover of 3000 COMMON GRACKLES and
  flyover of 3 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS.

  And in the Souther Tier, COMMON RAVEN along Route 219 in
  Cattaraugus County.

  The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, October 2.
