Yesterday afternoon around 5:15 I had an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK at Jones
Beach at the southeastern most portion of West End 2. The bird remained perched
in a shrub before landing atop a dune where is proceeded to dive south after a
small flock of horned larks. The bird did not reappear. Also in the vicinity
was a dark phase rough-legged hawk (on ocean parkway, west of the needle,
aforementioned horned larks, red-breasted mergansers (flying overhead), and a
female northern harrier who has been frequenting the western most area of West
End 2 .

Good birding,
