Saturday-Sunday, 2 & 3 May, 2015 - Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City A rather modest migration noted Saturday expanded by Sunday to more species, and for some of those, greater numbers, while there was also some exodus of earlier-moving species that are more regular through April. At least 21 species of warbler were found in Central; perhaps a few more. Many birders were out & about & most likely saw at least a few 'first-of-year' birds, at least for this park/borough/city/&-or region. The results from Riverside Park on Manhattan's upper west side were a little less, yet certainly migrants also are appearing there, one that is getting a bit late, Brown Creeper, was noted by several. A great report from northern Manhattan's Inwood Hill park included a male SUMMER Tanager seen Sunday (Joe DiCostanzo et al) along with a good variety of more-typical species.

Thanks to all the birders sharing info. and observations, including some of the "north end" regulars Ken C., Karen F., Brenda I., Tom P. & many more throughout the park[s]. It looks like good movement is likely to continue, on winds & weather favorable to migration. good birding, Tom Fiore, Manhattan -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
