An evening visit to the Swan River Preserve in East Patchogue (just south
of Swan Lake, Montauk Highway) yielded a continuing Glossy Ibis, a noisy
flock of Cedar Waxwings (largely feeding in the center island and hanging
on adjacent trees), an osprey being harassed by red-winged black birds, a
killdeer (center island) and a family of swans and several families of
geese.

If someone has never seen a glossy ibis before (up close) or wants good
photos - this is a great spot to go. The bird is a bit skittish, but pick
a spot and wait for it to come by - the pond is so small it won't take
long. I don't know if it's there during mid-day (a stop by today at 12:30
did not yield the bird) but I've heard it's there in the morning (possibly
with others) and has been there the last few evenings.
