Shortly after 8am this morning I spotted a Boat-tailed Grackle (female type plumage) perched on a piling at Pier 11 which is south of Wall St. The call was a hard "chuk" which leads me to believe it's a juvenile male. Some of the wing coverts on the folded wing were very dark compared to the rest of the wing..
I saw it again south of Pier and 11 just north of the heliport when it flew over the highway towards South St. Here's the complete checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S24292288 Ben Cacace Manhattan, NYC -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
