  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
  Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological
  Society. To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Press

  report.

  Highlights of reports received July 30 through August 6 from
  the Niagara Frontier Region.

  July 30, an AMERICAN PIPIT in the Genesee County Town of
  Alexander, at the west end of Peaviner Road. There are no
  July or August records of AMERICAN PIPIT in the BOS
  archives.

  On the upper Niagara River, August 2, an unexpected WHITE-
  WINGED SCOTER at Motor Island.

  July 30, another location for CLAY-COL. SPARROW on the Lake
  Ontario shore - a singing CLAY-COL. SPARROW at Lakeside
  Beach State Park in Orleans County.

  Also at Lakeside Beach State Park, seven shorebird species
  in a pond to the west of the entrance included SEMIPALMATED
  PLOVER, SOLITARY SANDPIPER and arriving, juvenile SEMIPALM.
  SANDPIPERS.

  Twelve shorebird species in the Tonawanda Wildlife
  Management Area on July 31 at West Woods Marsh on Owens
  Road, included 2 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 25 SEMIPALMATED
  PLOVERS, 75 KILLDEER, 17 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, 15 SOLITARY
  SANDPIPERS, 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 50 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 100
  LEAST SANDPIPERS, 18 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 10 SEMIPALM.
  SANDPIPERS, and one each of SHORT-B. DOWITCHER and WILSON'S
  SNIPE.

  In Chautauqua County this week, GRASSHOPPER SPARROW nesting
  at the Dunkirk Airport on Middle Road. Also at the airport,
  AMERICAN KESTREL and EASTERN MEADOWLARK.

  The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, August 13.
