List Members,

The New York State Ornithological Association (NYSOA) is hosting a Winter
Waterfowl Weekend (alliteration accidental!) in Oswego on February 25 & 26,
2017. Saturday will feature a snowshoe walk on the Rice Creek Field Station
trails in a variety of habitats at 1 p.m. with Paul Richardson and Dr.
Michael Schummer. (Depending on snow conditions, if snowshoes are needed,
they will be provided for the afternoon walk.) At 3 p.m., Dr. Schummer will
present "The History and Importance of Waterfowl Conservation" at the Rice
Creek Field Station of SUNY Oswego. A social dinner will follow at Vona's
Restaurant (http://www.vonasofoswego.com/ ). On Sunday at 7:30 a.m., the
main field trip to Oswego Harbor and River, Fair Haven State Park, and West
Barrier Bar County Park will be led by Paul Richardson. Participants will
be looking for waterfowl, gulls, and Snowy Owls. The presentation and
dinner are open to the public (please register for the dinner). Preference
for the field trips will be given for NYSOA members. A waiting list for
non-members will be kept in the event the trips do not fill (limit of 25
people). For more details and information on how to register, please visit
the NYSOA website at http://www.nybirds.org/ .

Thanks to Mary Beth Warburton, NYSOA Field Trip Chair, and Gerry Smith,
NYSOA Conservation Committee member, for planning this weekend event!
