hi John & all,

There do not appear to be any sightings of Ross's Gull from anywhere in NY state since sometime Thursday morning (Feb. 2nd) -

and there was a further, negative report on a reported sighting of Ross's Gull in Rhode Island which as some have pointed out was a report indicating an adult-like plumage, which of course the Tupper Lake (Adirondacks) Ross's seen & photographed by many hundreds was not (NY's Tupper Lake sighting was a young bird);

an attempt at finding the other gull (in Rhode Island) was noted, archived here: http://digest.sialia.com/?rm=message;id=1273658 (nota bene: the locations given in that post, Napatree and Moonstone Beach are within Rhode Island, from near Westerly to near South Kingston. The report of Ross's Gull had been from Trustom Pond, R.I., which is a National Wildlife Refuge. See: http://digest.sialia.com/?rm=one_list;id=122 if wanting any more on that report.)

still, one can continue to hope! and give thanks to NY North Country birders and residents for their updates and hospitality, with a tip 'o' the hat to Nick Bonomo of CT.
